The weather and climate in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Australia’s North West vary dramatically. Temperatures range from under 5°C to over 40°C and the weather pattern creates two very distinct seasons, each offering vastly different holiday experiences. CYCLONES In the North West, the cyclone season extends from November to April. Should a cyclone be imminent, you should be aware of the following cyclone procedures: Blue Alert: A cyclone has formed and may affect the area within 48 hours, precautions should be taken. YellowAlert: The cyclone ismoving closer to the area and appears a significant risk that destructive winds will occur in your area and you should take action. Red Alert: A cyclone is imminent - destructive winds are likely to occur soon, go immediately to adequate shelter. Cyclone warnings are broadcast on local radio stations or contact 1300 659 210. CLIMATE VISITOR CENTRES To get the most out of your holiday in the North West, speak to the experts at a local Visitor Centre. Visitor Centres offer advice on the best things to see and do. They can help with maps, accommodation and tour bookings, or provide local knowledge on hidden gems.
